Do you believe in the non-explicable, ominous and uncanny? Are you, my dear reader, by chance any superstitious? Well, I can assure you that this author is not. But the demise of the Wallaces might have me reconsider. As we all know, one death is sad, two is a tragedy but three is the number that makes you grow wary. The passing of their third son, the former man of god, marks their fifth loss in four years. Amongst the many words of condolences, whispers of a curse or of something far more sinister can be heard, and who can blame these souls? Who does not grow suspicious when looking at the family? After all, we have not seen Lady Wallace wearing anything but black for years. Will she ever break her never-ending cycle of mourning? For all we know the dowager baroness is running out of heirs. All that is left is nothing but a son and a daughter. To hinder their obliteration they need a new heir, but who wants to marry a man awaited by death?
