Gentlemen
Modesty in a young man, with a becoming assurance, is the ground work for an accomplished gentleman. But thoughtfulness for others, generosity, modesty, and self-respect are the qualities which bring him into real existence. The word of him is as good as his bond; and sometimes better. He never loses his temper, as it can be a signal of ill-breeding or poor upbringing. Lest it be forgotten: Silence is better than openly disagreeing.
Dearest Gentle Reader,
As much as these may be the rules for fine gentleman, there will always be exceptions to the rules. Who could forget Mister Wallace of the Season of 1815 and his most preposterous behaviour at the Watertons garden party? Alas, his untimely demice under the Wallaces curse will save this years garden parties, may god have mercy on his soul. Yet, dear readers, after the cold of last year, whispers suggest that this years season may indulge in more dalliances, fueled by the heat this springs sun enlivens in cooped up gentlemen.
Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown
